2011 Snowboarding Preview: DC Snowboards and Boots

So, now we are getting down to the wire with SIA only about a week away. Gear shots keep flowing in and hitting the web. Bottom line the companies are f*cking eager to get you psyched on next seasons gear. DC Snowboards is no stranger to this and have a few shots and descriptions rolling out early. A few boots the Devun deck and the women’s specific Biddy deck.

Having not ridden the DC decks yet I’m holding back on opinion but I’m definitely stoked with DC outerwear and have been a fan of the boots. Now, previously I was a big fan of the Judge and the Park. But, next years Status (shown below) is looking lean and mean. I can’t wait to put my paws on this to see if it’s as light and durable as it appears in this pic. Bottom line – this thing is looking bomb proof.

STATUS
Back this season is DC’s most supportive boot, the Status.  The Unilite outsole with Impact G is lightweight and provides plenty of traction while hiking in the backcountry, pipe or park. The strategically placed Push Zone on the outsole provides engineered tread for skating to and from the lift line. To reduce heel bruises from tough impacts, DC utilizes Impact G, a proprietary shock absorbing cushioning system resistant to temperature variation. And with DC’s Constrictor Closure system and Aerotech technology, the Status will keep feet secure and dry for a more comfortable ride. The Status is DC pro rider Travis Rice’s choice for the season.

PARK
DC’s Park series is the next evolution of freestyle riding. The new Park boot series with the Park Bravo Liner work together to give ultimate articulation.  Available for both men and women, the half liner is integrated into the boot enhancing medial and lateral flex.  The tongue and backstay provide progressive flex with the support needed to stick big landings. Find DC pro rider Aaron Bittner riding in the Park, DC pro rider Jonas Carlson in the Super Park all season. We didn’t forget about the women either when it came to park riding, so look for Raewyn Reid in the women’s Super Park this year.

 BIDDY
The Biddy is specifically tailored to the needs of female riders.  This all mountain freestyle board with Radius to Flat and Reverse Camber can handle any riding style.

FEATURES

·       Camber Core Profile – Found in Anti –Camber transition zones, this core profile has a “camber” shape which provides added power, control, and eliminates the typical “washout” of reverse camber.

·       Radius to Flat – After receiving rave reviews, awards and podiums, we have added Radius to Flat on every model for 2011.  The flat surfaces at the tip and tail of the board provide lift in the powder to keep you floating on op of the soft stuff.

·       True Optic Base – Our transparent true base provides the canvas for our most detailed base graphic applications.

·       Biax Laminate – Two directions of glass fibers are woven tightly together, allowing for additional strength and durability without adding weight. It’s strong and lightweight.

·       Structurn Base Finish –The patented structurn base structure is scientifically proven to be a faster base in all conditions.  Just like the dimples of a golf ball break tension and make it fly farther, these small dimples in our base break water tension and allow your board to glide faster, turn easier, and allow you to ride linger…regardless of how much wax you have!

DEVUN
Developed by Devun Walsh as his signature model board, the Devun Pro represents the pinnacle of the DC snowboard line – it’s the lightest, most responsive board available from DC.

·       Sintered Supreme Base – A high density sintered base that’s firm, exceptionally fast, and super wear-resistant.  The porous surface allows easy absorption of wax, meaning longer lasting tune ups.  Finished with laser structuring for very low friction while maintaining durability.
·       Carbon Quadrax Laminate – Our tip performing laminate uses 4 directions of glass fibers woven tightly together with dual carbon fiber strips running from tip to tail.

  1. New Status looks legit. They have been uber stiff in the past so not really the boot for me. Curios about the floating strap detail. How does that close/tighten? Is it linked to the boa?DC's boots are awesome, haven't ridden their boards so can't comment on that.
